Prerequisites: ISO Essentials (Not required, but strongly recommended)

Intended Audience: Department Information Security Officers (ISO) and back-ups, Agency Information Security Officers (AISO) and back-ups, Agency and Department Chief Information Security Officers (CIO), State security professionals being prepared for an ISO assignment, and State employees with primary or secondary responsibilities for information security

Course Description: This two-day class assists ISOs in the development of an information security program by presenting an overview of the following:

  • Information Security Officer’s role and responsibilities
  • State agency security and privacy requirements
  • Risk management
  • Incident reporting
  • CDT Information Security Office’s expectation from an enterprise security oversight perspective

Please note that it is strongly recommended that participants attend the half-day ISO Essentials class PRIOR to taking ISO Basic Training, as the topics addressed in ISO Essentials will receive no more than very high-level coverage during the ISO Basic Training class. Past completion of ISO Essentials ensures that participants possess the background and context required to get the most out of ISO Basic Training.
