CalCloud Email Services (CCES O365)
CalCloud Email Service (CCES O365) Hosted Exchange is an O365 Government Community Cloud environment for the State of California. The email hardware and software are housed at Microsoft data centers. CCES (CCES O365) data is replicated from the primary to the backup data center which is in a different geographic location, providing advanced security and reliability. Microsoft data centers meet a variety of industry standards and certifications including ISO 27001 and SAS 70 Type II.

The O365 G4 service bundle includes Unified Communication tools, which is offered as part of CALNET 3 contracts. Specifically, CALNET 3 Categories 1.2 and 2.0, offer Collaboration and Unified Communication tools that provide comparable functionality included in the O365 G4 service bundle. Since CALNET 3 is mandatory for Executive Branch agencies, the O365 G4 bundle is only available to the following:
- Non-Executive Branch customers (e.g., constitutional offices, local government, higher education organizations, etc.)
- Departments with approved on-premises PBX systems.

CalCloud: Email Services (CCES O365) is a vendor managed and hosted email service option to support the State of California’s email environment. This vendor hosted solution is currently provided by Microsoft in the O365 Government Community Cloud. CCES (O365) is a cloud computing based service with email services provided to its customers over the Internet. All infrastructure (hardware and software) for the CCES (O365) email system is managed by the vendor.
CCES (O365) offers 50GB mailboxes. Access to CCES (O365) is through an Outlook Client, Outlook Web Access (OWA), or mobile device.
CCES (O365) is offered through redundant Microsoft Data Centers.
Migration planning and preparation are available through the CCES (O365) enrollment process if assistance is needed in the migration process.
The CCES (O365) Collaboration Tools Suite consists of the following services:
Microsoft SharePoint Online
Microsoft SharePoint allows users to rapidly build collaboration websites. SharePoint offers a rich user experience with easy site editing, including theming and branding. It utilizes the Office Ribbon User Interface for a familiar Office experience. SharePoint offers a single platform for collaboration internally and with other State departments.
Microsoft Skype for Business
Microsoft Skype offers Instant Messaging (IM) and PC-to-PC audio and video calling as well as web meetings.
The Archive Services are built into the CCES (O365) mail service provided by Microsoft. Email may be archived and retained per tenant retention policies.

CCES (O365) provides connectivity to mobile devices via native ActiveSync.
Mobile Device Management (MDM) is available through the O365 EMS suite or the Mobile Device Management solution available through the CDT service catalog.
The CCES (O365) hosted email features system redundancy, network security, physical security at the data center sites, mailbox auditing, disaster recovery at geo-redundant data centers, criminal background checks on administrators and encryption in transit and at rest. The hosted email solution holds the following security certificates:
- CJIS, FedRAMP, IRS 1075, SSAE 16 Type II, HIPAA Customer Ready
ISO 27001, FIPPS
Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are established between Microsoft and each CCES (O365) tenant.
99.9% uptime financially backed SLA for each O365 GCC tenant environment.
The cost of each bundle will depend on each departments current licensing. If departments already have a Microsoft Enterprise Licensing Agreement MELA with Software Assurance the cost will be lower than if a department is purchasing new.
The CDT administration rate is calculated at 6.23% of the Microsoft Office 365 Enterprise License Agreement pricing.
