CDT Seeks Vendors for New Round of CALNET Wireless Services

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Department of Technology (CDT) has issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for a new round of wireless services under its statewide telecommunications program, CALNET. The solicitation seeks qualified vendors to provide a full range of wireless technologies, including cellular, satellite, and fixed wireless access. Through this IFB, CDT may award multiple contracts that will support essential connectivity needs for government agencies across California.

CALNET, short for California Network and Telecommunications, is a long-standing CDT program that provides competitively bid telecommunications contracts to meet the complex and critical needs of state and local government. It simplifies the procurement process and gives public agencies access to modern, reliable, and cost-effective communications services through pre-vetted providers. Contracts awarded through CALNET are used widely by departments, cities, counties, and even school districts.

The current IFB focuses on expanding access to a range of key services—including first responder mobility, business cellular service, and satellite broadband—important aspects for public safety, emergency communications, and extending coverage to remote or underserved regions.

Interested vendors must submit any questions about the solicitation by July 21, 2025, and final bids are due by noon on August 25, 2025. Once awarded, the new contracts are expected to play a vital role in keeping California’s public-sector agencies connected, responsive, and resilient.
