Creating Special Resources for Xerox DJDE Mode
Creating Electronic Forms

Electronic forms for DJDE mode can be created from source code and compiled on MVS using the software program HFDL (Host Forms Description Language). HFDL is a batch program that compiles FSL statements (the forms-generating language resident on the printer) and Extended FSL statements (additional text-handling capabilities under HFDL only).

With HFDL, a user can:

  • Compile forms for syntax check only.
  • Compile forms with samples of the form printed on the printer.
  • Compile forms and pass them to the printer along with test data for a full test of the form.

After a user has tested their form and is ready for it to be placed on the printer for production use, they must send an email to the CDT Service Desk. CDT staff will download the new form to the printer from the test library. The user is responsible for the permanent storage of the source code.
