SAS Software Functions

Base SAS

Base SAS provides a scalable, integrated software environment specially designed for data access, transformation, and reporting. It includes a fourth-generation programming language; ready-to-use programs for data manipulation, information storage and retrieval, descriptive statistics, and report writing; and a powerful macro facility that reduces programming time and maintenance headaches.
Base SAS includes these items: Procedures, DATA Step language, DS2 language, SAS FedSQL language, Macro facility, Output Delivery System (ODS), and ODS Graphics.

SAS/GRAPH

SAS/GRAPH software creates and delivers accurate, high-impact visuals that enable decision-makers to gain a quick understanding of critical business issues.

SAS/FSP
The procedures in SAS/FSP software provide convenient interactive facilities for data entry, editing, and retrieval. Using SAS/FSP software you can:

  • browse and edit the contents of SAS data sets

  • enter data into existing SAS data sets
  • create new SAS data sets
  • browse and edit SAS data views created with SAS/ACCESS software
  • browse SAS data views created with the SQL procedure in base SAS software
  • create, edit, and print form letters and reports
  • build and customize end-user applications

SAS/OR

SAS/OR software provides a powerful array of optimization, project scheduling, and simulation techniques to identify the actions that will produce the best results while operating within resource limitations and tight restrictions. It enables organizations to consider more alternative actions and scenarios and to determine the best allocation of resources and the best plans for accomplishing goals.

SAS Simulation Studio

SAS Simulation Studio is a graphical application that enables you to build, run, and analyze discrete-event simulation models. Application areas include retail, customer service, healthcare, transportation, and many other industries. The graphical user interface of SAS Simulation Studio provides extensive modeling tools suitable for both novice and advanced simulation users.
SAS Simulation Studio requires a valid version of either SAS/OR or JMP software.

SAS/STAT

From the traditional statistical analysis of variance and predictive modeling to exact methods and statistical visualization techniques, SAS/STAT software is designed for both specialized and enterprise-wide analytical needs. SAS/STAT software provides a complete, comprehensive set of tools that can meet the data analysis needs of the entire organization.

SAS/CONNECT

SAS/CONNECT software is a SAS client/server toolset that establishes connections between networked computers with different operating systems and offers scalability through parallel SAS processing. SAS/CONNECT provides users and applications developers the ability to manage, access, and process data in a distributed environment by enabling you to:

  • direct processing to a remote data source and get results back locally
  • develop local graphical user interfaces that process remote data sources
  • transfer disk copies of data
  • build integrated client/server applications
  • develop store-and-forward applications
  • write object-oriented applications that span platform boundaries
  • perform client/server-based task scheduling

This allows you to create a distributed environment that best utilizes your data and hardware resources to satisfy your enterprise needs.

SAS/ETS

SAS/ETS offers a broad array of time series, forecasting, and econometric techniques that enable modeling, forecasting, and simulation of business processes for improved strategic and tactical planning. SAS/ETS can help you understand the impact that factors such as economic and market conditions, customer demographics, pricing decisions, and marketing activities have on business.

SAS/QC

SAS/QC software provides a wide range of specialized tools that help you improve products, optimize processes, and increase levels of customer satisfaction. It enables organizations to go beyond basic process control to incorporate more advanced statistical analyses for additional insights into processes and product improvements.

SAS/ASSIST

SAS/ASSIST software is a menu-driven, task-oriented interface to SAS features and functionality. Many SAS customer sites use SAS/ASSIST software to empower end-users of all experience levels with the ability to access data and produce analyses and reports.

SAS/IML

SAS/IML software provides a powerful and flexible matrix programming language in a dynamic environment for programmers, statisticians, and researchers. You can apply SAS/IML software to problems that range from simple matrix manipulations to sophisticated statistical estimation techniques. The software is useful for tasks such as root finding, numerical integration, linear programming, nonlinear optimization, bootstrap estimation, and simulation.

The interface, SAS/IML Studio, provides interactive programming and exploratory data analysis.

SAS/AF

SAS/AF is a development environment that enables you to create portable, point-and-click applications. You can build much of your application visually, using drag-and-drop components, and because SAS/AF applications are stored in SAS catalogs, they are portable to all SAS software platforms.

Included with SAS/AF is SAS Component Language (SCL), an object-oriented programming language that enables you to access and display data to control interfaces, and to read and write to SAS tables, catalog entries, and external files.

SAS/ACCESS

SAS/ACCESS interfaces provide data access to more of your data sources so you can make better decisions faster. They are out-of-the-box solutions that provide enterprise data access and integration between SAS and third-party databases. SAS/ACCESS interfaces enable your SAS solutions to read, write, and update data no matter what native databases or platforms you use. Because the data appears native to SAS, there is no need to learn Structured Query Language (SQL) or any other database-specific query languages. By integrating all available data across your enterprise, SAS/ACCESS software supports your mission-critical business decisions by giving you access to complete, up-to-date, and accurate enterprise data.
