Description
CDT provides a hosting environment for web-based applications. We will assist the Customer from the planning stages to determine requirements, through the critical decision-making process involving such areas as:
- Application servers that will best meet the Customer’s needs
- Platform options
- Operating system requirements (cores, memory, storage, etc)
- Clustering, level of redundancy, load balancing, etc.
- Security certificate requirements
- Message queue needs
- Web server options
CDT is open to supporting any application server depending on the business requirements. The team has developed expertise in the following:
- WebLogic
- JBoss
- Apache
- Tomcat
- IBM WebSphere Application Server
-
- Base – single application server
- ND – a clustered installation of multiple application servers
- Liberty – a Java-based application server using a combination of IBM technology and open-source software
Included
WebSphere Application Server (WAS) is an Enterprise-Class Java-Based Application Server
WAS provides customers a flexible, reliable Java runtime environment that is able to function on various platforms (Windows, AIX, Linux, Spark, and z Systems). We support the following WAS software:
- WAS Base – a single application server;
- WAS Network Deployment (ND) – a clustered installation of multiple application servers; and
- WAS Liberty – a Java-based application server using a combination of IBM technology and open-source software.
In addition to Java, WAS supports open standard interfaces such as the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC). WAS is the second tier in a three-tier environment.
In addition to application servers, we support the following complementary software components:
- IBM MQ – messaging middleware that simplifies the integration of diverse applications and data across multiple platforms. MQ facilitates the assured, secure and reliable exchange of information between applications, systems, services, and files by sending and receiving message data via messaging queues.
- IBM HTTP Server (IHS) – a web server based on Apache Software. IHS can increase performance and provide load balancing capabilities when properly configured and implemented.
Optional
Customers are able to choose the components that meet their business needs. The Customer and CDT will meet to discuss requirements. The Customer’s Account Lead will assist in setting up a meeting with the eCommerce Application Server Support Team.
Optional components include:
- Application servers supporting JAVA or PHP:
- Apache
- JBOSS
- WebSphere Application Server
- WebLogic
- IBM WebSphere MQ is a network messaging middleware software product that simplifies the integration of diverse applications and business data across multiple platforms. MQ facilitates the assured, secure and reliable exchange of information between applications, systems, services, and files, by sending and receiving message data via messaging queues.
- IBM HTTP Server (IHS) for WAS is a full-featured web server that can be used for projects that do not warrant the expense of an HTTP server. The IBM HTTP Server is based on the Apache HTTP Server (a non-registered trademark of Apache Software Foundation) and provides a rich set of Apache features in addition to IBM enhancements.
For more information regarding the IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), refer to the IBM WebSphere Application Server Guideline.
